BTS
Welcome to the Behind the Scenes page!
here you can find closer looks at how our projects are created!
Building:
The Plan ->
A project can go through many various steps depending on the scale and theme of the build. but all maps start with a Idea.
Terrain ->
Depending on the scale of the project, some of our maps start in World Painter. This allows for super speedy creation of terrain and environments before we start to build in-game.
Manual Building
The last major step is building! This step could span anywhere from a day to up to eight months!
75% of our PMC maps are built entirely in Bedrock Edition, meaning no World Edit or building Mods!
Rendering:
The Build ->
Once a project is finished the next step is to render it! Renders are mainly used for thumbnails and Portfolio references.
The 3D Model ->
Bedrock allows for extremely easy 3D exporting via Structure Blocks. Once they're exported, All map renders are created in free rendering programs like Sketchfab or Blender.
And The Final Render!
The final step is to set up the lighting, and voila! A render is made.
Posting:
The Thumbnail ->
The first part to be made before posting is the Thumbnail! Complete with a full render, custom PaleoTech Border, and a Minecraft Update style title!
Exporting ->
Obviously in order to play on a map it needs to be downloadable! Our projects are either exported directly from Minecraft as a .MCworld file, or they're sent through Chunker as seen above.
Promotion!
Finally, it's time for promotion! We post our maps to over 36 diffrent discords, as well as various apps and websites.
Map BTS:
WW: The Acropolis of Athens
A top-down view of the Theatre of Dionysus mid-construction. Turns out building a Multi-tear-diagonal-circular-fan isn't as easy as it seemed 😅
WW: Chichen Itza
A before and after comparison of the detail work done on "El Caracol".
Texturing matters!
The final state of the World Painter world. with buildings and terrain laid out according to real-life surveys of the site.
The early modeling and texture work for the "Kukulkan" feathered serpent heads bordering the title.
